Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) is an evidence-based, internationally successful program providing an alternative to residential care and getting children and young people aged 7-17 with complex behaviours back to a stable, family life.

Aimed at breaking the cycle of disadvantage, TFCO provides a strength based, relational approach based on social learning and behaviour modification principles, aimed at changing the negative trajectory of behaviour that gets in the way of experiencing positive relationships, stability of placement and engagement with education, peers and the community.

At the end of a 9-12 month intensive home-based placement, the child or young person is reunified with their biological family or placed in lower intensity long-term foster care.

Benefits for the children and young people extend further than just preventing residential care placements. Positive experiences are being achieved immediately. Improved engagement within the community, positive inclusion in activities, enhanced pro-social behaviours, and greater attendance and participation at school are a few of the life changing benefits children and young people are experiencing in TFCO.
