Nabu is a an Aboriginal co-designed and evidence-based program operating in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, built in partnership with Waminda.

The program is named after the local Aboriginal word for ‘grandmother’ and assists families by teaching parenting and communication skills and how to navigate government services while maintaining connection to culture and country.

Cultural and elder mentors, family support workers and therapists work intensively with families throughout the program.

The delivery of Nabu aligns with the NSW Government’s commitments to reduce the rate of children re-reported at risk of significant harm and to increase permanency for children in out-of-home care.
