ID. Know Yourself
“I want to be a role model for Aboriginal kids in care. I want to give them hope and purpose.” Isaiah Dawe, Founder, ID. Know Yourself
As part of Their Futures Matter, ID. Know Yourself is an Aboriginal-led mentoring program for Aboriginal young people aged 15-18, soon to exit the out-of-home care system. The first of its kind in NSW, the aim of the program is to support Aboriginal young people to become strong and resilient and prepare them to reach their full potential in life after care.
The program is led by Isaiah Dawe, a Butchulla and Garawa saltwater Murri man.
The mentoring program focusses on culture & identity, teaching essential life skills.
By connecting and reconnecting Aboriginal young people to culture and preparing them with essential life skills for life after care, the program aims to support Aboriginal young people to become strong and resilient Aboriginal men and women who are the ‘deadliest’ versions of themselves.
